Parc du Citudella

A great city park named for the old Citadel. This is the sort of grand old city park that every great city seems to have. From its early military history to hosting the World's Fair to the current metro zoo, this flexible park has something for everybody.

We were there a bit early to see it fully as an oasis of green in the urban center, but the park capitalizes on plant materials to reinforce its form and scale.

It was a bit t oo early in the season for the grand fountain to be running, but we couldn't help but admire this great remnant of the 1888 World's Fair.

The park was also home to a great little playground that was clearly designed to be universally accessible (to Catalan speakers).
